Garden Refuse is collected on the same day as general waste removal in your respective areas.
WASTE DISPOSAL AT KRANSFONTEIN DUMPING SITE
- The disposal of any accepted waste at Kransfontein Landfill Site remains free of charge for all residents and businesses within the Municipality. This includes household waste, garden waste, construction debris or builders’ rubble.
- There is no charge to dispose acceptable waste (general waste, garden waste and clean builder rubble) at the Municipal landfill site (Provided the load is not more than 1 Ton per entry).
- A nominal charge is applicable if the quantity of waste being disposed exceeds one ton. If waste being disposed is more than 1 ton, a fee of R 281.00 will be levied. Please note that the Tariff has since gone up as from the 01 July 2024 (from 267.14 to 281.00) This fee is applicable for each entry where the total weight of waste exceeds one ton.
- The charge for quantity of waste exceeding one ton in a single entry is payable at GKM offices, 75 Hope Street, Adam kok III Building, Kokstad.
- No money should change hands at the Landfill Site.
- The payments must be made at the GKM Offices – Municipal pay Hall (on the right side from the Municipal Main entrance, next to the reception or opposite the main entrance security desk).
- When paying for waste disposal at our Municipal Main Office you will be assisted either by Mr. O Machwili or Ms T Gwinya.
- You can pay in advance for dumping or for several dumps. The municipality encourages residents and businesses using landfill site for waste exceeding the stipulated amount to pay in advanced as long as you know how many entries you are likely to make at that particularly period you paid for (for example if you are likely to make 05 entries that will 5 x R 281.00 = R 1 405.00) and you will be given a proof of payment at Municipal pay hall to be shown to security at the landfill site every single time you have to dispose waste to a maximum of 5 times)
Please also note that, vehicle transporting waste from point of generation to the landfill site should be covered by net or sail to avoid littering.
